Fruit juice from Ereğli to abroad
A firm based in Ereğli, exports the fruit juices it produces to around 35 countries worldwide, especially USA, Germany and Canada
Kadir Şahin, General Manager of Ersu Fruit and Food Industry Co. Inc., stated that their factory, established in 1969, has been carrying out activities in the fruit juice industry under the structure of Akman Holding since 1984.
Şahin stated that they produced fruit juices in their factories based in Niğde, Antalya, Afyon and Ereğli district of Konya under the name of Ersu and Golden companies incorporated to the Holding, and also said that they produced natural spring water as well in another factory also based in Ereğli.
FRUIT JUICES EXPORTED TO 35 COUNTRIES
Şahin emphasized that more than 250 employees worked in these 5 factories and that this figure increased even more at periods when production becomes intense and added:
“We established our factories in fruit producing areas in order to ensure our products to be of high-quality. We produce several sorts of fruit juices such as apple, sour cherry, apricot and peach in these factories. Furthermore, in 2005 we started exporting pomegranate juice, which we started to produce for the first time. Pomegranate juice became very popular also abroad. Annually average 200 thousand tons of fruit is processed in our 4 factories that produce fruit juice. We send 50% of our products abroad. We export the fruit juices we produce to around 35 countries worldwide, especially USA, Germany and Canada”.
Şahin stated that they allocate a certain amount of budget for R&G activities every year and said that they exported the pomegranate concentrated fruit juice that they developed with these R&G studies for the first time and that there was a great demand for this product from abroad.
TARGET IS 100 MILLION DOLLAR EXPORT
Şahin stated that they made around 25 million dollar export in 2010 and informed that they aimed at increasing this figure to 100 million dollars in the next 5 years.
Şahin also stated that they were planning to increase the capacity of their factories and said: “The people in the area also benefits from our activities. We signed a contract for 30 thousand tons of tomato with the farmers in Ereğli for tomato paste production. As our production increases, so does the farmer’s income, and also our country gains due to the increased foreign exchange entry”.
Şahin added that they would offer the consumers a lemonade product that they will produce with hot filling technology and that doesn't contain any additives within April.
